Queensland Ballet will present another packed program in 2017.

Headlining the program is Ben Stevenson’s Swan Lake. This is a traditional version of, set to Tchaikovsky’s much-loved score. Swan Lake will be presented in May.

2017 will kick with “Bespoke”, a new season of performances that will see QB dancers team up with guest choreographers, musicians, independent music producers, fashion designers and lighting designers to create innovative new multi-media works at Brisbane Powerhouse. Collaborators include Katie Noonan and Amy Hollingsworth.

Triple bill “Raw” will hit the stage in March. The program features Christopher Bruce’s 1981 work Ghost Dances, Liam Scarlett’s No Man’s Land and Greg Horsman’s Glass Concerto.

In August the romantic comedy La Fille mal gardée (The Wayward Daughter) will be performed in Brisbane, before setting off on a regional tour of Queensland starting late August and finishing mid September. “We’re delighted to have co-commissioned this production with our friends at the West Australian Ballet,” says QB artistic director Li Cunxin. La Fille is one of the oldest ballets in the modern ballet repertoire, and French choreographer Marc Ribaud’s version brings the ballet into the 1950s promising a lot of fun that the audience can relate to.”

Trey McIntyre’s Peter Pan will return to the Playhouse stage 25 October – 4 November. "We can’t wait to share the magic of this production with you once again as our dancers soar through the air, a giant crocodile takes to the stage and we all travel to Neverland,” says Cunxin.

As per tradition, QB will present Ben Stevenson’s Nutcracker in December. Another staple, the "Dance Dialogues" studio season, which includes new works from emerging and established choreographers, will be presented in June.
