Serena Chalker’s solo dance work every/nowhere takes audiences on a walking tour through a world of poetry and dance improvisation. An immersive experience for just ten audience members per show, every/nowhere will play the Annandale Creative Arts Centre at the 2017 Sydney Fringe Festival from September 12-15.

Equipped with individual audio-guides, each audience member is invited to enter a world where space and time are built upon and collapsed simultaneously, a reflection on how place is experienced through memory.

“This work is a reflection of the idea that wherever you go in the world, you are always re-evaluating your understanding of place and what it means to be ‘home’,” says Serena Chalker. “Travel and displacement are universal experiences, and they can really shift your understanding of the world, as the memories you collect start to interrupt your experience of the present. I’m very excited to bring this show to Sydney for the first time.”

Performed in London, Bulgaria, Perth and Melbourne, every/nowhere was a WA Fringe World Award winner and earned Chalker a nomination as Most Interesting Australian Artist in the 2016 Dance Australia Critics’ Survey.
