Expressions soars to Mozart
Voices and bodies will take flight in a new production celebrating the beauty and complexity of some of Mozart’s most sublime arias and ensembles.
Expressions Dance Company’s athletic ensemble of six dancers will join six singers from Opera Queensland to perform new works from some of Australia’s most celebrated choreographers.
Called Mozart Airborne, the program will weave a fabric of stories through live arias, duets and scenes brought together by co-directors Natalie Weir and Lindy Hume. Featuring virtuosic pianist Alex Raineri, the music will include arias from such well-known operas as Don Giovanni, The Marriage of Figaro and Così Fan Tutte. Natalie Weir will be joined by choreographers Elise May, Lisa Wilson, Stephanie Lake, Kristina Chan and Richard Causer.
Mozart Airborne will be performed in the intimate space of the newly refurbished Cremorne Theatre, Qld Performing Arts Centre, from August 5 to 12.
