RAD Gala in Canberra
The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Australia will showcase the talent of young dancers in our nation’s capital with a gala evening of performance later this month.
An annual and key feature in the ACT/Riverina RAD dance calendar, the gala is an opportunity for RAD schools in the region to come together in celebration of dance.
The evening will include classical ballet, jazz, contemporary and more.
Regional Manager Karen Monaghan who also manages NSW for the RAD says “The RAD community in Canberra/Riverina is extremely vibrant and dedicated. The students and teachers work so hard to bring an extraordinary evening of performance to their audience each year and this year will be no different. A love of performing shines through the effort of every student on the stage!”
Hosting galas and student showcases across the country is part of the RAD’s commitment to supporting and promoting dance in Australia’s major and regional centres.
Besides galas and student showcases, the RAD also hosts masterclasses, syllabus workshops, summer schools, social events, dance teacher training courses and annual awards in almost every state. This year in particular has seen more events than ever before take place in new areas where there is an enthusiastic dance community. The RAD openly welcomes non members and those not currently studying the RAD syllabus to attend.
The gala takes place at The Playhouse at Canberra Theatre on May 20 from 6.00pm.
