37th Choreography Competition Hannover
The annual International Choreographic Hannover is calling for entries.
This is the 37th iteration of the competition, which is one of the most renowned and oldest choreography competitions in the world. It is presently directed by Gregor Zöllig, chief choreographer of the dance theater at the Staatstheater Braunschweig in Germany. He is also one of an extensive panel of judges, which includes Ofra Idel, Artistic Director of Machol Shalem Dance House, Jerusalem; and Christiane Winter, Festival Director TANZTheaterINTERNATIONAL, Hannover, among others.
Applicants must have professional training and be 39 or younger. The competition is open to any kind of style. Evaluation is based exclusively on imaginative use of space and time, the realisation of an idea, and its transfer onto the performers. The length of the performance must be between 5 and 12 minutes. Applicants are free to choose their own subject and music. The choreographic work can be sent as an Internet link (Youtube, Vimeo, etc). DVDs are also accepted.
Prizes are offered in a number of categories, including a “production award” donated by the Tanya Leidtke Foundation, named after the late Australian choreographer.
