'Boro' dancers reunite
The fourth Borovansky reunion was held in Sydney on August 9 at the Castlereagh Boutique Hotel in Sydney, hosted by Jan Melvin and Adrienne Orsay.
The instigator of these reunions was Borovansky Ballet and inaugural Australian Ballet dancer, the late Barry Kitcher.
The first was held in 1993 in Melbourne, then the next again in Melbourne in 2015, then Brisbane in 2019. Barry would be proud of this continuing tradition.
Although wonderful principal dancers Marilyn Jones and Garth Welch were not able to attend, they sent their love and surprised everyone with both phone and Facetime contact. Eleven dancers from the final Borovansky company attended, some even from Queensland and Victoria; 19 sent apologies from as far as New Zealand.
It was a most happy gathering and the e-dancers enjoyed chatting and "danced down memory lane".
We must pay tribute to "Boro", without whom none of us would be here today. His life here in Australia and his development of the Borovansky Ballet Company attracted a national following of ballet lovers.
He inspired the spirit and love of dance in us all.
Everyone agreed we should continue the tradition and all look forward to the next gathering of our ballet family.
