We’re looking for your most creative dance shots… let your imagination run wild!
We're not just looking for the perfect arabesque (though we love those too!). We are looking for the creative mastery of composition, lighting, costume and setting as well as an understanding of the technical capacities of the camera.
What fleeting moment can you capture with a click of your finger? What sculptural poetry can you freeze in time? How can you use the camera to emphasise the shadows and planes of the human body? How can you capture the volatility, speed or subtle flow of dance? The fervour of collaboration in the studio? The intense concentration of the creator? The unguarded moment backstage?

Criteria
• Originality of movement/pose
• Creative use of location/backdrop/costume
• Image complements dancer's lines/technique
• Image must be available in high res (minimum 300 dpi at 25 x 32 cm)
• Caption includes name/s of dancer/s
• Entrant is an amateur photographer. Competition is not open to professional photographers.
Terms and conditions: You must have an Australian postal address in order to be eligible to win. Competition is open to amateur photographers and dancers only. Competition closes 30/07/18 and the winner will be notified via Instagram Direct Message within 10 business days of the closing date. Winner will also be announced on the Dance Australia Instagram account. The top seven photos will be selected by the judging panel, and the winner will be determined by the highest number of likes on the finalist photos reposted by the Dance Australia Instagram account during the promotional period. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. By entering the competition you're providing permission for the Dance Australia Instagram account to repost your photo(s). Photos must be high resolution (minimum 300 DPI at 25 x 32 cm) in order to be featured in the magazine. Photos must be the work of the entrant. Photographer must have permission to share photo from any dancers in the photo.
