The Australian Performing Arts Teachers Association (APATA) has announced the winners of its 2020 national awards program. Two of the five award winners were from the dance sector this year.
The APATA Awards honour and celebrate Australian performing arts educators.
The Meskell Honourary Award recognises significant achievement, distinction, outstanding and lifetime service. It is presented to an individual who demonstrates extraordinary teaching in the performing arts, and is adjudicated at the discretion of the judging committee and not necessarily awarded every year.
Congratulations to Elena De Cinque (pictured top), founder and principal of ED5Interantional (North Strathfield, NSW), winner of the Meskell Honaray Award. The prize is a place at the Broadway Teachers Workshop in New York City, worth $15, 000.
Congratulations, too, to Radiance Academy (Toowoomba, Qld), led by studio director Sally Andrew, for winning Performing Arts Private Studio of the year. This award recognises private studios that inspire students in their learning and development in the performing arts. Outstanding teaching and leadership create positive environments for students to achieve their best and connect with performance.
