Dancehouse presents Season 2
Dancehouse, Melbourne's home for independent dance artists, is soon to present its second season for the year, with an array of artists "exploring interior and exterior worlds and the forces that shape us within and without".
The line-up comprises Amelia Jean O'Leary (Gamilaroi), who summons matrilineal lines in Yinarr, and Rhiannon Newton's Explicit Contents, which "sensuously plays with hydro, thermal and corporeal transformations". There's also Weathering, in which contact improvisers Emily Bowman and Joey Lehrer juxtapose human and metrological interconnections, and Arabella Fran-Starkie's Pictures and Ghosts, an attempt to recall and re-author the undocumentable.
In addition, Dancehouse is playing host to the House of Dévine's second Zodiacs Ball, a kind of mock ballroom competition with various POC LGBTQIA+ houses, produced by Angel, JULAI and Muva Kianna Dévine with beats by Mike Dévine, as well as the return of DOUBLE DOUBLE with Deanne Butterworth, Jo Lloyd and drummers Evelyn Ida Morris and Tina Havelock Stevens.
Season 2 goes from August 20 to the end of September.
