Attention young dancers!
Expressions of interest in joining Expressions Dance Company’s new pilot youth dance ensemble close Friday 25 May, with auditions to be held Sunday 10 June.
Running over eight weeks, the EDC Youth Ensemble pilot program will provide a chance for young dancers aged 14-18 to be mentored by guest artists and EDC company members, build confidence and experience being part of an ensemble.
The EDC Youth Ensemble has been created to help bridge the gap between the dance studio and tertiary education options, says EDC Artistic Director Natalie Weir. “As one of Queensland’s longest established and most respected dance companies I thought we had a duty to encourage and shape the next generation of dance artists. Watching emerging talents grow as artists and build their careers has always been one of the most rewarding aspects of what I do at EDC. It’s a privilege to be part of their artistic journey,” she says. “We’ve always been connected to youth through our Brisbane Contemporary Dance Intensive, but the Youth Ensemble will allow us to support new talent on a deeper level.”
