The Australian Ballet’s 2015 season kicks off in Sydney, in February, with Graeme Murphy’s Swan Lake, at the Capitol Theatre. Murphy’s Swan Lake is the Australian Ballet’s most performed and most successful work of all time.
The work was presented by the Autralian Ballet in Melbourne in 2013, and last year made its US West Coast premiere in Los Angeles, before travelling to San Francisco, as part of the company’s 33rd international tour.
Inspired by the notorious love triangle between Princess Diana, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles, Swan Lake is about a world of scandal, lust, and betrayal, where no heart is left untarnished. The ballet was created in 2002 to mark the Australian Ballet’s 40th anniversary. It was last performed in Sydney in 2008.
