The annual International Choreographic Competition has taken place on-line for the past two years because of the pandemic.

However, the organisers are now "very happy" to announce that the 36th competition will be held live at the Theater am Aegi in Hannover again in 2022. Prizes include a total sum of 14,500 euro ($22,500) in cash prizes as well as eight production awards. These latter provide the winner with the opportunity to create a new work with a dance company, comprising Theater Chemnitz, Theater Trier; Oper Leipzig; MiR Dance Company; Staatstheater Hannover (donated by the Tanya Liedtke Foundation) and Theatre Pforzheim (all in Germany); DantzaZ Dance Company (Spain); and the Scapino Ballet in Holland.

The jury includes Marco Goecke (Director Ballet Staatstheater Hannover); Ofra Idel (Artistic Director of Machol Shalem Dance House, Jerusalem); Anna Konjetzky (Choreographer and Artist); and  Cathy Marston (Director Ballet Zürich from the season 2022/2023). (For the complete list go to the link below.)

Gregor Zöllig, chief choreographer of the dance theater at the Staatstheater Braunschweig, Germany, is the artistic director of the competition.

The choreographic work can be sent in digital format or as a DVD is also accepted. Application closing date is April 15, 2022.
