International stars to perform with La Scala in Australia!
The Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) has revealed the names of some of the lead dancers, including international guest star artists and principal dancers, who will be appearing with La Scala Ballet when it performs in Brisbane.
They include David Hallberg, Principal Dancer with American Ballet Theatre, Leonid Sarafanov, Principal Dancer with the Mikhailovsky Theatre, and Maria Eichwald, Principal Dancer with the Stuttgart Ballet in Germany who is now a guest artist with some of the world’s most prestigious companies. Of La Scala's own principal dancers, Nicoletta Manni, Claudio Coviello and Timofej Andrijashenko will appear.
Leonid Sarafanov will partner with Nicoletta Manni in Rudolf Nureyev's Don Quixote for the evening performances on Wednesday 7, Saturday 10 and Saturday 17 November*.
Maria Eichwald will pair with Claudio Coviello in the evening performances of Giselle on Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 November and Nicoletta Manni will dance with David Hallberg on Friday 16 and Saturday 18 November.
During the 2018 QPAC International Series 115 of the company members will take up residency in Queensland for three weeks in November, in a blockbuster program celebrating Italian arts and culture on and off the stage.
The full lead casting schedule will be announced in coming months.
