Queen's Birthday honours

This year's Queen's Birthday honours included a reasonable percentage of artists, including those in the field of dance. 

The former artistic director of the Australian Ballet, David McAllister AM, has been appointed a Companion (AC) in the General Division, "for eminent service to the performing arts, particularly to ballet both nationally and internationally, to artistic directorship and dance education, and as a mentor".

 

Dance writer and critic Lee Christofis was made a Member of the General Division (AM) "for significant service to the performing arts, particularly to dance".

Marie Mahon received a Medal in the General Division (OAM) "for service to dance as a teacher". Diane Heaton received an OAM for "services to dance".
