Residency opportunity
The Canberra Theatre Centre has created two new opportunities for performing artists.
The Centre is offering two separate residencies in the Courtyard Studio in 2021 – a one-week development residency and a four-week rehearsal and presentation residency.
For artists with new ideas to explore, Canberra Theatre Centre is offering a one-week residency for the creative development of a new performance from 7-11 June. Artists can develop their ideas, and at the end of the week, Canberra Theatre Centre will facilitate an invite-only industry showing to support the future of the work. All venue and associated costs, including technical support, as well as artist fees for up to six artists, will be covered. Expressions of interest for this opportunity close on Monday 17 May at 4pm.
For artists with developed ideas that are ready to rehearse and perform, Canberra Theatre Centre is offering a four-week residency from 2-29 August, including two weeks in the rehearsal room, one week for technical rehearsal and five performances. This residency also includes all venue and associated costs, including technical, box office and front-of-house staff, as well as artist fees for up to four artists. The Centre will also fund and roll out all marketing and publicity for the presentation and provide producing support from its programming and technical teams. Expressions of interest for the four-week residency close on Monday 31 May at 4pm.
Candidates need to demonstrate a "strong relationship" with the ACT arts community and must be "dedicated to making work with, for, and by Canberra artists".
The Centre is holding an information session on May 10 at 5.30 pm. For info go here.
