Stompin gains new ground
Launceston youth company Stompin is presenting a collaboration between Ashleigh Musk (Guts Dance, Alice Springs) and Michael Smith (from Dancenorth in Townsville), and two exciting young Stompers, Sage Price and Jesper Harrison, over two weekends in January. Together they will present Fertile Ground and Rival Planes, the latter developed by the young Stompers under a mentorship program.
Fertile Ground is the brainchild of Musk and Smith, and sees the dancers and audience navigating a brutalist pile of bricks.
Price and Harrison's Rival Planes promises to "reflect on the burden and beauty of carrying, managing and sharing emotional baggage, with the help of a lot of coathangers".
Both programs will be held in Launceston and Hobart, where they are hosted by MONA FOMA.
