Eight young Australian dancers have been selected to compete in the final round of the 2015 Sydney Eisteddfod McDonald's Ballet Scholarships, which will be held Sunday 2 August, at the Sydney Opera House.

The scholarships not only expose competitors to adjudicators such as David McAllister, artistic director of the Australian Ballet, but also carry a total prize value of $36 000. A $15.000 scholarship plus $3,000 cash is awarded to the outright winner and the best dancer of the opposite sex picks up a $10,000 scholarship and $2,000 cash prize while the six unplaced finalists receive $1,000 each.

The finalists are:

Aiden Foster (Charlesworth Ballet Institite WA)

Brayden Gallucci (Lake Macquarie Dance Centre and Alegria Studios)

Harrison Lee (McDonald College)

Katherine Sonnekus (Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy)

Amelia Townsend (Annette Roselli Dance Academy)

Madison Whiteley (Annette Roselli Dance Academy)

The Open Jazz Dance Group final will also feature in the program, along with showcase performances by 2015 winners.
