The Queensland Ballet (QB) has commenced an international search for a new artistic director.
“We are seeking a visionary artistic leader, choreographer and producer with an inspiring vision . . .,” QB chair, adjunct professor Joan Sheldon, said in a press release.
In June this year the company announced current artistic director François Klaus had accepted an extension of his current employment contract, after which time he will retire.
The QB was established in 1960 and remains one of only three professional ballet companies in Australia. The company employs 27 professional dancers, 15 staff and works with over 100 musicians, designers, choreographers and creative workers each year. QB also promotes and develops dance education, principally through a partnership with the Queensland Dance School of Excellence, and its Professional Year and Junior Extension Programs which will continue to be part of the Company’s core business.
