Cameron Mackintosh’s spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera has now become the highest selling show of all time to be staged at Arts Centre Melbourne.

The show had a record breaking season at the Sydney Opera House last year and is now having an extended season in Melbourne. It is a joint production between Opera Australia, a resident company at ACM, and Cameron Mackintosh.

Its popularity with audiences has made it a significant part of Victoria's recovery post-pandemic, demonstrating how important the arts are to a thriving, prosperous economy.

To celebrate this achievement, the Phantom people have come up with a scheme: 50 notes have been hidden across the Melbourne CBD, inviting audiences to the musical.

There are 100 tickets to win: every note will feature a unique code, allowing its finder to book two tickets to a performance on Tuesday 24 January. Clues to the notes’ locations will be revealed on the morning of Friday 20 January on Opera Australia’s social media accounts.

The season must close on February 18 with no further extension possible.
