LATE last year Dance Australia co-editor Karen van Ulzen spoke to choreographer and dancer Alice Topp in an article that looked at why the number of female classical choreographers is relatively small.

So we’re thrilled to see that Topp’s latest work, Aurum, will be premiered as part of The Australian Ballet’s “Verve”, a triple bill of contemporary ballet, in Melbourne this June. Topp’s Little Atlas was an audience favourite at 2016’s “Symphony in C” program. Aurum will see her continue her exploration into intricate partnering and intense emotion.

Aurum appears alongside two critically acclaimed works by TAB’s resident choreographers, Tim Harbour’s Filigree and Shadow, which premiered in 2015, and Stephen Baynes’s 2007 neoclassical work, Constant Variants.

“Verve” plays at Arts Centre Melbourne, June 21-30. More: https://australianballet.com.au.
