Jonathan Burrows and Matteo Fargion have built a body of duets which mix the formality of classical music composition with an open and often anarchic approach to performance and audiences, bringing them a worldwide following. Both based in England, Burrows is a choreographer and Fargion is a classically trained musician and composer who met through their shared interest in dance.

Beginning in April, Burrows and Fargion will present their unique insight into movement at contemporary dance centres in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne.

In all venues the pair will perform Body Not Fit for Purpose accompanied by another work. Body Not Fit For Purpose is the duo’s first overtly political work, taking as its starting point the inadequacy of the dancing body to express that which is of concern and at the same time the inherent radicality of the attempt. The performance unravels the link between meaning and action, raising questions in the midst of our laughter.

Also on the bill are Show and Tell and Both Sitting Duet (check individual venues for program details and additional events.)
