Two dancers have received accolades recently:

First, Elma Kris, who has recently retired after more than 20 years as with Bangarra Dance Theatre, has been named the NAIDOC 2019 Artist of the Year.

Kris is not only Bangarra's longest serving company member, she is also a choreographer and teacher, and has been a mentor to the younger members of the company and a trusted advisor in the development of new work.

Second, choreographer Shaun Parker has been awarded a Fellowship of the Australian Academy of Music and Performing Arts (AMPA) in Sydney. Parker is the founding artistic director of Shaun Parker and Company and as such has provided a number of AMPA students with artistic development and performance opportunities, particularly through his regular Trigger and Secondment Week intensives.

Congratulations to both artists!

Note: Shaun Parker & Company is currently seeking up to eight young artists to volunteer with the Company during the final stages of development, public performances and workshops for IN THE ZONE, its new work for young audiences.
