Young Australian dancer Alec Knight has recently become one of the featured dancers in a new video series called Strictly Ballet, created by the American Teen Vogue channel.
Alec, who has just turned 18, is a student at the School of American Ballet in New York. He successfully auditioned for the School after many years of dance study in Australia, firstly in Brisbane at the Davidia Lind Dance Centre, and next at the Australian Ballet School, where he studied full-time for four years from the age of thirteen. He travelled to New York to audition for the School of American Ballet and hasn’t looked back since. He was even offered a contract at the Boston Ballet, but turned it down in favour of continuing his studies.
Strictly Ballet follows six students as they strive for stardom at the School of American Ballet. The ungoing series takes viewers behind the scenes and inside the studio “to see what it's really like trying to land a spot on the Lincoln Center stage”. Episode 3 is all about Alec!
