Applications are still open for the prestigious annual Brisbane International Contemporary Dance Prix.
Now in its fifth year of operations, the BICD was established by former dancer Louise Deleur and has become an important opportunity for aspiring contemporary dancers. It offers secondments and placements to a range of prestigious partner schools and companies.
Already 220 placements and offers have been awarded, including five professional contracts. For example, Billy Thomas, a 2019 scholarship recipient who took up a place at the Palucca Hochschule for Tanz in Dresden in Germany, will join the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company next month. Others, such as Dean Elliot, Isabella Crain and Alex McNab, have received contracts with Australasian Dance Collective and Sydney Dance Company and Phoebe Anderssen has joined the Semperoper Dresden via the Palucca school.
Entries are welcome in junior and senior categories and close on July 2. The competition takes place from September 25 to 30 and includes classes. Just go here.
