Local students will get a chance to perform onstage with the Imperial Russian Ballet Company, when it tours Australia with its production of The Nutcracker later this year. With its famous Tchaikovsky score, The Nutcracker is a favourite of the Imperial Russian Ballet Company.
Travelling from Moscow, the company is touring to Newcastle, Gold Coast, Caloundra, Maryborough, Rockhampton, Mackay, Charters Towers, Townsville, Port Macquarie, Wollongong, Hobart, Launceston, Devenport, Albury, Frankston, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Ipswich and Toowoomba. The company will be joined on stage by about 40 children, from local ballet schools in each area. A Russian teacher will travel from Moscow to each location to provide specialised tuition six weeks prior to the performances. Children selected will attend a master class on the afternoon of each performance, dine with the Imperial Russian Ballet Company cast and perform onstage with them.
The tour will take place September – November. For more info, including bookings, head to www.russianballet.com.au.
PLEASE NOTE: The Imperial Russian Ballet is not conducting auditions. It is working with one local ballet school in each place. The schools will be auditioning their OWN students for parts in 'The Nutcracker'. All schools have now been contacted and confirmed with the 2016 'Nutcracker' parts. Apologies for any confusion.
