The annual Sydney Eisteddfod is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year - an extraordinary achievement. 350 events, featuring 25,000 entrants, will be held over a variety of venues, and a special Birthday Gala is being held on July 1 at the Sydney Town Hall.

Dance events kick off on June 4 with secondary school groups and culminate with Dance Day on June 30 at the Sydney Opera House. In between is a host of sections, from the Tap Dance Championship on June 27 at the Town Hall to the Ballet Championship Final, the richest in the southern hemisphere, at the Sydney Opera House on July 23. More than 8000 contestants have registered for the dance events altogether.

In addition, as part of the festivities, the Eisteddfod is organising an exciting project in collaboration with Xanthe Geeves and the Sydney Youth Orchestra.

Geeves, who was the winner of the Dance Australia 2020 Emerging Female Choreographer Award (a project in partnership with the Australian Ballet and the Sydney Opera House), will choreograph Arafura Scarp, to be performed on July 23 in a Dance
Gala which includes both the Ballet Championship and the Dance of Champions. Student dancers 16 years and over to audition to be a part of this exciting opportunity. But hurry! Entries close on Sunday May 28.

Entrants are asked to email their most recent ballet and contemporary solo video to events@tanyapearsonartscentre.com.au
