Simon Gallaher is about to make a triumphant return to the Brisbane stage in the coveted role of Edna Turnblad in Harvest Rain’s production of Hairspray.

The award-winning Gallaher has had a long and successful career in the Australian entertainment industry, and was twice voted Queensland's Entertainer of the Year. He has also had a long association with the Qld Performing Arts Centre, having starred in the first production ever staged at the complex (The Pirates of Penzance) back in 1985, and having produced and starred in a series of Gilbert & Sullivan musicals in the Lyric Theatre throughout the 1990s.
After an extensive and lengthy audition process, up-and-coming star Casey McCollow has been cast in the lead role of Tracy Turnblad, the pleasantly plump teenager who dreams of dancing on the Corny Collins show..
Rachel Dunham (most recently seen as Justice Charlier in Rock of Ages) will return to her hometown to play the role of Motormouth Maybelle.
The role of the Corny Collins will be played by former Ten Tenor, Tod Strike. He last performed with Harvest Rain as Judas in the 2010 production of Jesus Christ Superstar.
Liz Buchanan will play the villainous Velma Von Tussle; Dakota Striplin will play Link Larkin; Amber Von Tussle will be played by Astin Blaik; and Brisbane musical theatre stalwart Gary Jones will play Wilbur Turnblad.
An ensemble of 30 musical theatre performers will bring Callum Mansfield's 60's inspired choreographer to life, accompanied by a live band under the baton of award winning music director Maitlohn Drew.
