Best memory of your studies?

Starting out in a full-time dance course is always so exciting but can be an overwhelming time of change: meeting new friends and choreographers, testing out all of your skills in new classes, creating career goals and balancing the lifestyle and demanding schedule. At ED5, I’ll always remember being welcomed by three of the best in those first weeks, the directors of ED5International – William Forsythe, Elena De Cinque and Mario De Cinque. They have put together a wonderful course that pushed and challenged me, but also allowed so much joy, growth and success.

One of my favourite memories would be working so hard towards our first theatre repertoire performance at the end of Term 1, which was A Chorus Line. There is something so special about the group coming together for the first time in this sort of way and getting a taste of the process of putting on a musical.

A main life-lesson you learnt?

Versatility in your skill set and to really keep pushing the boundaries of learning. The industry is tough and will always present challenges, but you have to keep learning about yourself and your craft so that you can continually stay on top of your game. Being as versatile as possible presents so much more opportunity within the industry and will only help better your chance of being employed.

I believe that at ED5International the students are given the best chance to refine all of these skills, but also are taught to present themselves as esteemed professionals in preparation to enter the industry post full-time. I can honestly say that 10+ years later, so much of what I learnt back at ED5 allowed me to have the successful and diverse career both in Australia and now has brought me all the way to NYC this year in my Broadway debut. I can’t thank ED5International enough for the birth of this dream and the foundation of my training.
