ADT to honour Tanya
This November and December, Australian Dance Theatre (ADT) will honour the memory of Tanja Liedtke by presenting her award-winning work construct in Adelaide. It’s been ten years this year since the prodigiously talented choreographer was killed in a road accident, aged just 29. At the time of her tragic death, she was about to take on the role of artistic director at Sydney Dance Company.
A co-commission by London’s Southbank Centre, construct premiered at the Centre in May 2007. A witty and curious look at the concept of building, the work starts with an empty theatre full of possibility – a space in which to construct. Shifting between the physical act of building and the emotional construction of lives, construct explores the curious connections between building a home, a life, a relationship, a future and a dream.
“Like all great works there is something relevant and timeless about construct,” says ADT artistic director Garry Stewart. “Its beauty, charm and wit are completely fresh and ingenious.”
'Construct' will play The Space Theatre, Adelaide Festival Centre, November 29 – December 2.
