Annie Partners with RSPCA as New Performances Released in Melbourne
The heartwarming musical Annie has announced a national charity partnership with the RSPCA, bringing together the beloved story of a rescued dog and an organisation dedicated to animal welfare. This collaboration promises to be a paw-fect match, offering support to animals in need while celebrating the joy and companionship they bring.
"I'm very pleased that Annie will be working with the RSPCA as our national charity partner. It's an ideal synergy, and Sandy thinks it's paw-fect too!" said John Frost, Producer of Annie. This sentiment reflects the natural connection between the show's themes and the RSPCA's mission. The story of Sandy, Annie's loyal companion, resonates deeply with the organisation's work in rescuing and rehoming animals. This connection will be further strengthened through several fundraising initiatives.
Top fundraisers in the Sydney and Melbourne Million Paws Walks will be rewarded with tickets to Annie performances, giving them the chance to experience the magic of the show firsthand. Additionally, post-show bucket collections will be held after select weekend performances in both cities, providing audiences with an easy way to contribute to the RSPCA's vital work.
"RSPCA NSW is so grateful to be the recipient of Annie the Musical’s generosity and support,” said Christine Savanah, RSPCA NSW Corporate Philanthropy Specialist. "The storyline of Annie highlights the unconditional love, friendship, and loyalty that animal companions bring to our lives. Just like Annie’s dog, Sandy, RSPCA animals know all too well the power of second chances, and we are excited that audiences will get to experience first-hand how special the human-animal bond can be.”
Coinciding with this exciting announcement, new Annie performances in Melbourne have been released due to popular demand. Audiences can now enjoy the timeless classic and support the RSPCA at the same time. This collaboration is a true celebration of community, compassion, and the enduring power of heartwarming stories. It's a chance for theatregoers to experience the joy of Annie while contributing to a worthy cause, making this partnership a win-win for everyone involved.
The stellar cast for Annie features Anthony Warlow as Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks, the role he has played twice before across Australia to great acclaim and in which he made his Broadway debut, alongside Debora Krisak in the role of Miss Hannigan. Rising star Mackenzie Dunn will play Lily St. Regis and Keanu Gonzalez will step into the dancing shoes of “Rooster” Hannigan. Amanda Lea LaVergne will be Grace Farrell, while the original Yellow Wiggle, Greg Page debuts in his first musical theatre role as President Franklin D Roosevelt.
