An Australian is among four dance students who have been pre-selected from the Prix de Lausanne's Summer Intensive to participate in the competition finals.

Seventeen-year-old Samuel Lance will be one of the talented few who will compete in the 2025 edition, which will be held February 2 to 9, 2025, at the Beaulieu Theatre in Lausanne.

Samuel trained with Damian Smith at the National Ballet School in St Kilda, in Melbourne, from 2018 to 19 and is now at the Tanz Akademie Zürich (Switzerland).

The fifth Summer Intensive of the Prix de Lausanne welcomed 59 young dancers from 20 countries and four continents to Villars-sur-Ollon, in the Alps, from July 8 to 13, 2024. The aim of the Summer Intensive is to discover young promising talent and open the doors of the Prix de Lausanne to a few of them. The participants benefit from a whole week of intensive classes and coaching with world-renowned teachers.

Four dancers were preselected altogether. The other three were

Rhyan Foerster (US) Tanz Akademie Zürich

Charlie Keffert (France), VM Ballet School

Anna Sparapano (Italy) Balletto di Toscana

The judges also awarded Honorary Mentions in classical and contemporary to two dancers.

The HM for classical went to Marie Ribaudo (France) and the HM for contemporary went to Joana Gonçalves (Portugal).
