Bloch has announced that two artists from the Australian ballet will be Bloch Ambassadors in 2014. The dancers, Juliet Burnett and Daniel Gaudiello, will be the Australian representatives in an international line-up that includes Polina Semionova (principal, Staatsballett Berlin and American Ballet Theatre) and Sarah Lamb (principal, Royal Ballet).
Sydney-Born Burnett began dancing with Valerie Jenkins and later trained with Christine Keith, before attending the Australian Ballet School. She has been an artist of the Australian Ballet since 2003 and has been a senior artist since 2011. It was then that she fulfilled a lifelong dream to dance her namesake role in Graeme Murphy’s Romeo and Juliet. Burnett is also a writer and contributes regularly to Dance Tabs and the Australian Ballet’s blog Behind Ballet.
Gaudiello began dancing at the age of six, at Johnny Young Talent School in Brisbane, and then went on to Promenade Dance Academy. He went on to complete the Queensland Dance School of Excellence and Queensland Ballet professional year before being accepted into the Australian Ballet School. He joined the Australian Ballet in 2004 and was promoted to principal artist in 2010. As a choreographer, Gaudiello made his debut in 2009 with Notte in Bianco for "Bodytorque".
