Entries open soon for the Alana Haines Awards

Previous A Group Winner Lauren Wycherley from Papilio Atelier Auckland, now at the Royal Ballet School in London.

Entries open soon for Australasia’s largest ballet competition, the Alana Haines Australasian Awards, which will be held at St James Theatre in Wellington, New Zealand, over Easter in 2025, from April 17 to 21.

Entries open on October 1 and close when the quota of 600 max is reached.

Prizes include cash awards of $60,000 plus elite scholarships for 33 finalists at the Grand Finals – 11 from each age group

(Juniors 11-12 – Supreme A 13-14 and Supreme B group 15-18)

The competition consists of a short class followed by the contestant’s chosen classical solo from the repertoire list (plus a one minute own choice solo for Supreme A & B only), followed by elimination rounds, followed by the finals.

The judging panel will be made up of luminaries from Canada, Australia and New Zealand..

Past finalists have gone on to join companies or schools all over the world.
