Amy Westacott

The Sunshine Coast Arts Foundation promotes the development and prosperity of the arts in the region through fundraising and philanthropic investment. Among its activities is its annual “Gifted Program”, which provides financial support to six different art form projects, funded by donations. In addition, this year’s Gifted Program included a dance scholarship for the first time.

The dance scholarship was awarded to Amy Westcott, a pupil at the The Dance Centre Peregian Springs under the guidance of Deborah Preece-Brocksom. Amy hopes to use her scholarship to support travelling overseas for the Prix de Lausanne in Switzerland, the Alana Haines Award in New Zealand and to partake in the Royal Ballet School finals audition.

The five other Gifted donations were awarded to projects by:

Aaron Lenden, an emerging Filmmaker from the Sunshine Coast with a Bachelor of Creative Industries in Screen Media from the Uni SC;
Hayley Davis, Creative Director of Parados Productions;
Shannon Garson, ceramic artist, writer, and curator with a 20-year practice. She holds a Masters degree from ANU and is a Churchill Fellow;
Shaye Hardisty and Ketakii Jewson Brown AKA ShayeKet, well known artists and community collaborators creating sustainable fashion projects;
Steven and Tynni Lang, co-directors Outspoken, a hugely popular regional writer's festival.

The Gifted program, established in 2020 with a generous donation from the De Deyne family, is made possible by the support of donors and patrons who believe in the power of the arts to enrich  communities.
