Sydney Eisteddfod has moved to 45 Chippen Street, Chippendale, continuing an upward trajectory path of renewal and development after celebrating its 90th birthday last year. The new premises includes office space, rehearsal rooms AND the exciting new Chippen Street Theatre. This fully equipped, fifty-seat black box theatre will be used for some of this year’s performance events, as well as small concerts, workshops and master classes.

Sydney Eisteddfod is happy to be able to offer office space and share the facilities with other arts organisations, with Australian Youth Orchestra and Australian Haydn Ensemble already onsite. The Chippen Street Theatre is also available as a venue for hire and a much-needed additional accessible arts venue in Sydney.

On Tuesday 9th April the Sydney Eisteddfod welcomed guests at an exclusive gathering to launch and introduce its new facilities. Guests were treated to musical performances from Winnie Su (pianist) and Noah Oshiro (cellist) while dance was represented by Tallulah Calvert (pictured in red tutu) and Lauren Li (in pink).

Chief Executive Officer Annette Brown is beyond excited for this next step. “Sydney Eisteddfod at the Chippen Street Theatre will give many young performers valuable intimate public performance experience, where they can interact with their audience, peers and mentors. I look forward to providing a space to foster many more performers, dancers, singers and musicians for years to come”.

The opportunity to perform in the Sydney Eisteddfod runs from May to September 2024, with a program of over 350 events. During this period, the Eisteddfod gives entrants a platform to showcase their talents across high-profile venues in Sydney, including the Sydney Opera House, The Concourse Chatswood, Darlinghurst Theatre, Petersham RSL, and now Sydney Eisteddfod’s new Chippen Street Theatre.
