The Workroom Program is a year-long pilot program for Independent Dance and Physical Theatre Artists located within a Dance-Hub framework at Studio1 in Yeerongpilly, Brisbane QLD. Their inaugural calendar of events is now live and open for artists to explore.
The Workroom Program is a sector support + capacity building platform for Independent Dance and Physical Theatre in Brisbane. Across 12 months Studio1 will present a series of creative residencies, workshops, skills labs and showing opportunities to champion and uplift choreographic development and research enquiry for dance and physical theatre in Brisbane and beyond.
Of particular interest to independent dance artists in Queensland will be the 4 residencies on offer which are 2 weeks in duration and funded at $6000 per residency. These residencies will specifically focus on exploration and process. They allow space and time for artists to build on initial ideas in readiness for larger opportunities, EOI’s, funding bids and grant applications.
Studio1 champions safe spaces frameworks and actively encourages people from First Nations, LGBTQIA+, CALD and Disability communities to apply.
Creative Residency applications close on 16th April.
There are a number of other events and opportunities throughout the year. You can find more information at https://studio1.org.au/the-workroom
