At Dance North Academy, not only do we provide the technical training needed to pursue a career in classical or contemporary dance we are also about fostering creativity, artistry and intellectual growth to shape well rounded, intelligent dancers. After a highly successful inaugural year, we are excited for further expansion and growth in 2024.

Courses

Full-Time Course, 9am – 4pm, Monday through to Saturday

Main subjects: Classical Ballet & Contemporary

Practical dance classes per week: Open Classical Ballet Class, Pointe Class, Boys Coaching, Conditioning, Pilates, Physiotherapy, Variations, Pas De Deux, Classical Ballet Group, PCT, Contemporary, Contemporary Technique Development and Conditioning.

Contact hours per day: Monday through to Thursday, 10:00am – 2:30pm

Pre-requisites/entry requirements: To join the Dance North Academy Full-Time Program, there are no specific prerequisites in terms of age. Instead, students are assessed based on their physical and emotional maturity, readiness for full-time training, and other factors such as family support, focus, dedication, and commitment. Typically, students starting their first year in the program range from 12 to 15 years old. Older students with prior full-time training elsewhere are also considered and will be placed in the appropriate level based on their training, technique, and ability to adapt to and benefit from the program.

Audition date: Live Open Audition date: 25 August 2024

Online Audition date: entries open now and close on 31st August 2024

Audition requirements: Applicants are not required to prepare any material in advance of the Live Open Audition. We believe in providing a level playing field for all candidates, allowing their natural talents and abilities to shine through in the audition process.

The Online Audition process consists of photo and video submissions. The video should be up to but no longer than 15 minutes long and must include all required content including ballet and contemporary work. The video should be submitted as a YouTube or Vimeo link.

Fees: $95 audition registration fee for both the Live Open and Online Auditions.

Scholarships or subsidies: Not currently available

Possible career options: “Turning young dancers into future artists” – The Dance North Academy full-time program provides students with the highest quality training foundations to aim towards a professional career in classical or contemporary dance. In our first year, our students successfully secured placements at renowned institutions such as The Australian Ballet School, Pallucca University of Dance, Queensland Ballet, and Codarts Rotterdam, as well as receiving professional contracts from The Australian Ballet and the Singapore Ballet Company. These placements and contracts serve as a strong incentive for prospective students who aspire to achieve similar heights in their dance careers.
